Soybean growers from Far North Queensland, Mackay and Bundaberg regions travelled south to learn more about the soybean industry.

The northern growers met up with soybean growers from Northern New South Wales who joined the three day bus tour.

The tour visited farms, grain traders, processors and research projects at Casino, Killarney, Gatton and Kingsthorpe as well as tours of processing plants Mara Foods and PB Agrifoods.

Oakey local, Geoff Sloss, hosted the tour on his property on 4AK Road, where PB Agrifood, a grain trader from Toowoomba, has a seed plot showcasing a vast array of new and existing soybean varieties.

Trials of a range of insect management options for soybeans were also showcased at Sloss’ farm.
