Special milestone for Wyreema
Ahead of Wyreema State School’s 130th birthday celebrations on Saturday, 18 October, On Our Selection News will be exploring the school’s history over the coming weeks.
Wyreema State School staff and students 110 years ago in 1915, when the school was located on its original site.
Wyreema State School and its P&C led by President Andrea Curthoys have been very busy making preparations for the event which is taking place from 10am to 2.30pm.
Since its opening in 1895, the school has had a long and storied history.
We will explore the moving of the entire school from its original site on Toowoomba Karara Road in the 1920s, the fight for the school’s survival in the early 2010s, which saw the involvement of then Opposition Leader and later Premier Annastacia Palasczcuk and much more.
