This month’s meeting of the Allora Sports Club committee discussed the Courthouse relocation project currently being undertaken by the Allora Historical Society.

The committee expressed admiration for the Historical Society members in regard to said members’ commitment and tenacity in working to see this project completed.

The Historical Society has such high ambitions but doesn’t have ready access to the funds required to achieve them.

Following discussions at the monthly meeting, a motion was passed by the Sports Club committee to support the Courthouse relocation project and an amount of $5,000 was pledged.

In recent years the Allora Sports Club has grown into a very strong business, due in large part to the unbelievable support of both the Allora business community and also the community at large.

Over the past 12 months, the Sports Club has made a number of donations to local community organisations, including $2,500 to the Allora Regional Sports Museum and $1,000 to the Allora Swimming Club.

The Sports club also supports St. Patrick’s School and St. David’s Anglican Parish with their annual golf and bowls days which have been running for a number of years.

The Sports Club committee has undertaken to continue and even increase support of local community organisations in their fundraising endeavours, focussing on those which have limited resources available to them.
