Success for DD Light Horse troop at Qld Championships in Pittsworth
The 11th Light Horse Darling Downs troop took home ribbons in all sections of the Queensland Mounted Infantry (QMI) Challenge held at the Pittsworth Showgrounds on Friday. The Queensland Tent Pegging Championships followed on Saturday and Sunday, with the troop just missing out on the trophy by two points.

The troop entered one team of four riders to compete in the QMI Challenge which included events such as tent pegging, hurdles, dummy thrust, rescue race and skill at arms.
The four riders were Richard Howard from Southbrook, Anysha Riggs from Gatton, Richard Steels from Plainland and Peter Scriven from Toowoomba.
The team won the QMI Challenge trophy and the Dismount for Action trophy.
In the Queensland Tent Pegging Championships, Anysha won the C Grade High Point Rider and was equal first with the Highest Female Rider overall.
The troop won the Lances but lost the Championship by two points, coming in second best.
Richard and Janene Howard sponsored the Wywurri Catering Horse-manship Award for the best horseman on the day, which was presented to Victor Collett from the Tamworth troop.
While Richard was amongst the action, Janene was in charge of the catering on the weekend.
Next month, the troop will turn its attention to the Australian Light Horse Association Cup at Manilla in New South Wales.
