Success in RASQ crop comp

Many local farmers took home a placing at the 2023 Royal Agricultural Society of Queensland Crop Competition.

Paul Elsden from Elsden Farms at Brookstead won the reserve champion crop for his irrigated Pioneer P1756 maize crop.

Also at Brookstead, Lindsay and Duncan Krieg of Bostocks Farming Co took out the irrigated sorghum section with a crop of Pioneer A75.

Arcadia Rural at Branchview was highly successful, winning the wheat, barley, triticale, canary and chickpeas class and champion field barley crop thanks to their Oxford barley entry.

Michael Hegarty of Alcheringa at Brookstead received second and third place in the dryland grain sorghum section. 

Second place was secured with a crop of Pacific Acclaim and third a Pacific MR Bazley crop.

First place was taken out by Kurt Von Pien from Macalister, west of Dalby, with Resolute.

The overall champion crop was a Pioneer P1756 maize crop grown by David and Tanya Peters from Allora.
