Sun shines for Vikings’ soccer carnival
After the abysmal weather on Saturday, the Pittsworth Vikings Soccer Club was pleased to see the sun shining for its first ever End-of-Season Mini Roos Carnival on Sunday. Bridgman Oval was transformed into a hive of activity as young soccer enthusiasts laced up their boots and took to the field feeling foot-tastic!

Thirty-six teams from 13 clubs registered over 350 players across the age groups of Under 6, 7, 8/9 and 10/11.
About 600 spectators turned out to watch the event and support the young soccer stars.
Other clubs who took part were Oakey, Dalby, Chinchilla, Nanango, Stanthorpe, Highfields, Rockville, Willowburn, Gatton, Withcott, West Wanderers and South Toowoomba Hawks.
There were nine official referees and nine junior Club referees.
The Vikings, who had two combined teams in each age group, showed their club spirit and sportsmanship in many ways.
Shane Smith, President of the Pittsworth Vikings Soccer Club, said two of their players Mitchell Krinke and Oliver Smith, went to the next level by offering to play half the day with a Gatton Under 11 team due to players’ injuries.
The Under 9 team also welcomed an extra player from Nanango on their team for the entire day.
“Thank you to our amazing volunteers for a fantastic day, whether it was helping with set up, canteen, coaching or the big clean up at the end of the day everyone got in and helped to make it an amazing day,” Mr Smith said.
“Overall a fantastic carnival to finish an amazing year of soccer - bring on our planning for our 2026 season and end of year carnival.”
Kids and spectators alike were able to replenish their energy with a number of food vendors that complimented the canteen facilities - Running on Hot Spuds, Old Time Favourites, Gluten Free Donut Company (Grand Central), Pinky’s Coffee Dreams and Michael’s Snow Cones and Merchandise.
