Syntropic farming workshop in Pittsworth

Landcare is hosting a workshop in Pittsworth tomorrow with tips on how syntropic farming can be applied to your system.

Scott Hall will be the guest speaker at Pittsworth’s syntropic farming workshop.
Scott Hall will be the guest speaker at Pittsworth’s syntropic farming workshop.

So what is syntropic farming?

Syntropic farming is a regenerative agricultural cropping method in which natural processes are translated into farming interventions, with emphasis on soil formation, regulation of micro climate and favouring of water cycles.

It uses the power of ecology to drive growth, just like the forests of the globe  where no inputs are needed for life to reach higher levels.

Whether you have a backyard or 1000 acres, or are a grazier or cropper, this method can be applied.

Scott Hall, a fifth generation farmer, will deliver the workshop and touch on:

Drought proofing through increases in moisture  retaining soil carbon, more plants, litter and mulch cooling the soil;

Storing more nitrogen, accessing more minerals by increasing soil life, diversity and life based carbon;

How syntropic systems can be steered into many diverse forms of production at any time;

How to increase yield diversity, with typically two or more types of yield are included as a byproduct of the targeted yield;

How it ultimately reduces the amount of land required.

The workshop is free and will be held between 9am and 3pm.

Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

The venue will be announced upon registration.
