Take the Prime Minister’s walk

Although it may just look like a roadside stop while driving along Drayton Connection Road, Federation Park at Vale View contains a tranquil little walking track interestingly named the Prime Minister’s Walk.

A nice surprise is a lagoon of sorts that can be found within Federation Park.
A nice surprise is a lagoon of sorts that can be found within Federation Park.

The walking track consists of a loop, 919 metres long, that only takes about 15 minutes to complete.

The route is relatively flat and paved, allowing for small children, the elderly, strollers and wheelchairs to use it.

Cyclists can also make the most of the track.

As well as the walking track, the park includes picnic facilities, a car park, a playground and toilets.

Signs around the park tell the story of the area, including its first inhabitants and the days of the Cambooya Shire from 1914 to 2008.

The ‘Federation’ in the park’s name refers to the year it was opened, 2001, the centenary celebration of Australia’s federation in 1901.

Visitors can sometimes be seen setting up and camping overnight, which they are allowed to do for up to 24 hours.
