The Amazing Life of Banjo Paterson

Allora and District Historical Society hosted the Life and Rhymes of Banjo Paterson at a highly successful presentation by Australian Champion Bush Poet Gregory North when he visited Allora recently. As an indication of his performance the 120 strong audience gave Greg a standing ovation.

The Gregory North’s show, Life & Rhymes of Banjo Paterson held at the Allora Community Hall was a huge success, and enjoyed by all who attended.

The Allora and District Historical Society that organised the event would like to thank all the local businesses and organisations for their support.

Behind the scenes the assistance from volunteers, historical society members and non-members was gratefully appreciated.

Thanks to Kev for parking the caravans for three days, Sue for her posts on the Allora Historical Society facebook, to those who prepared the Community Hall and catered for the show and to the Darling Downs Heavy Horse Festival committee for the publicity posted for the Banjo concert.

The Society is indebted to Gretta & Justin of Bartranz Petroleum for their generous $300 fuel voucher won by Deb Flynn, Millmerran; the Neale family for a dressed lamb, won by Peter Weston, Allora: and Aaron and Ashley of Allora Butchery for their unexpected donation of the bread and lamingtons for the concert.

The $100 number board was won by Anita Walters from Leyburn.

Thanks are also extended to the Southern Downs Regional Council’s Community Grant funding for the concert and the advertising and publicity by OurNews Pty Ltd.
