The earth laughs in flowers

The topic of Wildflowers was undertaken with enthusiasm by the Allora Photography Group with minds racing as to where would be the best spot to find some interesting and unique specimens.

‘’Pretty in Pink’’ by Sally Wadsworth shows a very pretty collection of flowers in various stages of blossom making for an interesting photograph. The dark pink of the partially opened flowers contrasts with the white of the fully opened ones, creating interest and allowing the viewers eye to roam. Although Sally has used a shallow depth of field to create a beautiful soft background the point of focus has been well chosen which has kept all the flowers in focus. Excellent composition is achieved by filling the frame and Sally’s well considered and artistic image earned her an Honour.

The definition we needed to follow was the flower/s needed to be growing in the wild and not intentionally planted or seeded so an excursion was organised by our hardworking Committee to the Girraween National Park while others scouted about to find their own locations.

John Stewart was once again our helpful and informative Photographic Society of Queensland Judge critiquing our efforts and giving us some helpful tips for next time.
