The story of Easter on display at the Uniting Church

Taking viewers on a reflective journey through Holy Week, the Easter Display at the Pittsworth Uniting Church is still open to the public until next Friday.

The first display begins with Palm Sunday and gradually moves through the events leading up to Easter Sunday.

Rev. Willie Liebenberg came up with the idea, and Janice Reed has transformed it into an effective display, which includes an explanation of each scene and a reflection.

Most of the display has been cut from styrofoam sheets and painted to add authenticity.

It is being called, “The eight movements of Jesus.”

The Garden of Gethsemane scene is particularly effective, with Jesus kneeling to pray in the olive grove.

Going inside the tomb, where Jesus was laid after his crucifixion, is also a moving experience.

The display is open to view week days at the Uniting Church in Briggs Street, between 10am and 3pm, until April 5.
