Toowoomba West Lions support mental health
The Lions Club of Toowoomba West was a sponsor and held a stall during the Momentum Mental Health Symposium earlier this month at St. Patrick’s Cathedral Centre in Toowoomba.
This major mental health symposium attracted approximately two hundred people and at least a dozen service providers who also held stalls during the event.
The theme this year was “Connect to Mental Health”.
The Toowoomba West Lions used the opportunity to increase awareness of the vital work Lions Clubs perform in Toowoomba and to help recruit new members as a way of increasing their connection to the community and improving their mental health.
This symposium attracted seven speakers who covered a wide range of mental health challenges and the support available.
Five Club members attended the symposium – they were Lions Bob and Thelma McKeon, Lions Patrick and Helena Allport and Lion Derek Tuffield OAM.
Another mental health symposium is planned for March 2026.
A Toowoomba West Lions spokesperson said this symposium was a great opportunity to be involved and also supports Australian Lions’ Well-being Foundation and International President’s “3 weeks of Service” for the 2025-2026 Lions year.
