TRC to start upgrade on Clifton Road
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) will begin major upgrade works on Clifton Road at North Branch in early April, delivering safer and more reliable access for local residents, agricultural operators and heavy vehicle users.
The project, jointly funded by TRC and the Queensland Government through the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme (TIDS), will involve widening the existing roadway to eight metres, pavement reconstruction and associated drainage improvement works.
Construction will start on Tuesday, with a full road closure between Leslie Bridge Road and Volker Road from 15 April until the works are completed.
The project is expected to be completed by December, with detours in place via Pittsworth–Felton Road and Toowoomba–Karara Road.
TRC Construction and Maintenance portfolio spokesperson Cr Carol Taylor said the project represents a significant investment in the region’s rural road network.
“Clifton Road is an important link for residents, farming enterprises and freight operators, and this upgrade will deliver long‑term safety and access benefits for everyone who relies on it.
“Council appreciates the Queensland Government’s support through TIDS funding, which enables us to deliver essential upgrades like this more efficiently for our community.
“There will be temporary disruptions during construction, and Council will work to minimise impacts where possible and keep residents informed as the project progresses.
“Council thanks the community for its patience and cooperation as these important works are delivered,” Cr Taylor said.
