Truck crashes into power pole at Rossvale
A truck driver has escaped injury after veering off the Oakey-Pittsworth Road near Harth Lane at Rossvale on Tuesday afternoon and crashing into a power pole.
The incident happened around 12.45 and resulted in a grass fire about 20 x 10 metres in size.
Two Queensland Fire Department crews and four Rural Fire Service crews including West Pittsworth and Southbrook were on scene.
The fallen power pole caused an outage that affected 90 customers in the Irongate, Mount Tyson, Pittsworth, Rossvale, Springside and St. Helens areas.
The driver of the truck was stranded on one side of the fallen power line and remained with his vehicle for some time.
Paramedics took drastic measures and travelled off-road along an adjacent paddock to reach the driver, confirming no injuries were sustained.
Firefighters were able to blacken out the majority of the grass fire by 2.55pm.
Traffic on the Pittsworth-Oakey Road was blocked for a time, with Rural Fire Service personnel encouraging cars to turn back.
Northbound traffic was initially guided off the road along a neighbouring fenceline, however that came to an abrupt halt when a truck became stuck.
Police were on-site and received traffic control support.
Most of the affected areas had power restored by 4pm.
At time of writing, Ergon Energy was working to restore the power for 22 customers in the immediate Rossvale and Springside districts on Banyard Road, Harth Lane, Illing Road, Kolbergs Road, Oakey-Pittsworth Road, Rossvale Road East and Rossvale Road West.
