Update On The Allora Community Hall
The Southern Downs Regional Council has again been approached by The Allora Advertiser in relation to the structural problem with the Hall.
In the 2022-23 SDRC Budget funding has not been allocated for repairs to the Allora Community Hall so what is happening?
A Council spokesperson said “unfortunately there is significant damage to the roof structure, which further extends to the flooring system and load bearing walls.
Repairs of this nature are extremely costly and therefore Council is investigating alternative sources of grants and funding. The true cost of repairs will only be known once the remedial design is complete. Repairs can commence once the remedial design is reviewed and approved.”
The Hall will remain inaccessible until such time as work is completed.
“The Council has a duty of care to the Allora community and will only reopen the hall once it is safe to do so.” the Council spokesperson said.
