Upgrade at SES facility
Improved facilities at Pittsworth’s State Emergency Services (SES) base will make life a lot more comfortable for members of the local group.

The improvements are encapsulated in a structure within the main ses facility on railway street.
Included is a large training room with a modern kitchen at one end along with a new fit-for-purpose administration office at the front of the building.
The additions were officially opened on Saturday morning by Toowoomba Region Mayor Geoff McDonald, who praised the work of local SES members.
“Their contribution goes far beyond the emergencies,” he said.
“SES volunteers also help with community education, preparedness programs, and support for major events.
“Events like the Pittsworth sprints and Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers floral parade.
“They help us build resilience as a community, and in times of crisis they are a steady hand when everything else feels uncertain.”
Mayor McDonald said the Pittsworth volunteers have been through some recent training for operational capability and have contributed 235 hours in training and operational response since March this year.
The design of the improved area was largely the work of ses member Rob hall who was a local controller.
It is anticipated that the pittsworth facility will now also be used for regional training purposes.
The $100,000 upgrade was completed as part of Toowoomba Regional Council’s 2024/25 capital works program.
The building’s external façade also received a face lift, incorporating the signature SES colour scheme of grey and orange.
Pittsworth SES members are excited to have the improvements that have been made.
Several of them said one of the main reasons they are happy is that previously it was extremely hard to hear inside the main shed when rain was falling on the metal roof.
