Jason and Lloyd Bailey have resurrected a vintage 12 run spring tyne horse drawn combine which was manufactured in the mid 1930s by Shearer in South Australia.

Glen’s father Mervyn Vaughan restored the machine which he purchased in 2000 at Southbrook woodwork.

This group of enthusiasts is sowing Reliance wheat which will be harvested next summer with Glen’s vintage harvester.

By using this machine, they are staying with the
idea of using vintage machines.

The wheat variety used in the 1930s could have been Federation which was developed in 1903.

The Caterpillar D2 is a 1954 model which was purchased by Glen at Gatton in 2019.

When it was new in the 1930s, this combine was a wonder of modern agriculture.

Glen’s vintage machinery (in working order) really highlights the advances in
90 years of development.
