Wattles Juniors Shine in Mighty All-Round Weekend

The Wattles Under 11 team headed for Pittsworth to take part in the annual Manktelow Challenge.

Two young Wattles stars are to be applauded having gained representative recognition.

Outstanding forward Jack Burton has been named in the Under 15 Darling Downs Schoolboys team to play at the State Championships at Miami later in May, while Wattles Under 10 player Rhys Gascoyne has been selected as Darling Downs Under 11 team as a shadow reserve.

Saturday saw the Wattles Junior Under 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13 15 and 17 teams along with the Under 15 girls league tag line up head west to Goondiwindi’s Gilbert Oval and challenge the junior Boars.

Nutrien Harcourts Clifton Under 13 side finished behind the Boars, while the George Berry coached All In Electrical Under 15 girls league tag team won convincingly.

Wattles Drayton Medical Centre Under 15 boys side proved a 40 – 14 points better side than their Goondiwindi opponents.

Clifton Upholstery Under 6 - Wattles youngest league talents, there Under 6’s, impressed with a “great hit out” against the smallest Boars according to coach Nick Van Der Poel.

Railway Hotel-Allora Under 8 - In a sensational performance James Johnson led the way in an outstanding display by Wattles Under 8’s with an amazing six tries

Hamblin Building Under 17 - Unfortunately Wattles Under 17 team were on the wrong end of a 20 – 4 scoreline a Gilbert Oval, with Ben Rauchle the only player in green and gold to score.

Warwick & District Junior Rugby League Round 4 - Wattles Juniors are on the road again this Saturday heading south to the Granite Belt, up against the Stanthorpe Gremlins at Sullivan & Crisp Oval.
