Wattles Juniors sign on for 2024
Wattles Junior Rugby League Club Warriors are primed to burst onto the 2024 rugby league scene with their sign-on muster this Thursday, February 8th at Platz Oval.
Aside from necessary registration formalities, players and parents can take part in a Coach meet and greet and enjoy a sausage sizzle.
The club’s uniform shop will also be open for purchases, using eftpos facilities only.
Club President Aaron Gilmore is enthusiastic about the season ahead, after such a successful 2023 season that reaped three grand final appearances including an undefeated Under 13 team premiership success.
Mr Gilmore is also measuring last season’s many positives with the health of the club financially, volunteer and player participation on and off the field, a major bonus being over 180 players in green and gold colours.
While it’s Club Muster Day on Thursday, season preparation is well underway according to Mr Gilmore, with all staff appointments in place and a working bee last Saturday that saw pleasing numbers on hand to put the necessary polish on the Clifton based Platz Oval facilities.
Training for the new season commences on Thursday February 15th at the Allora State School for
all grades, and parents should be aware all players must be registered before taking part.
Excluding school holiday periods, training is conducted on Thursdays throughout the season from 4.15pm to 5.30pm.
Along with the usual Warwick & District Junior Rugby League fixtures, Wattles’ Under 14 team
will travel to Charleville for the annual Adrian Vowles Cup on February 23rd and 24th.
Another consideration is participation in the Walker Brothers Weekend Challenge in late March in Toowoomba at the John McDonald Sports Complex, where Wattles’ Under 13 side was so impressive last year.
