What a crazy week of weather
Fires, smoke, storms, extreme heat, ferocious winds, cold, damp and wet: the past week has thrown everything at us.

In between a storm Sunday afternoon and a wet and miserable Tuesday, hot and windy conditions on Monday afternoon contributed to a vegetation fire at Nobby.
Crews from Nobby, Allora, Cambooya, Felton Broxburn and Drayton were among the many sent to battle the blaze after receiving the call at 2.30pm.
Air support was also provided.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson said crews did structural protection and managed to extinguish the fire pretty quickly, with most of the work done by 4pm.
The blaze began as a crop fire.
Storm lashes Westbrook, wider region
Westbrook and much of the Toowoomba Region copped a lashing last Sunday afternoon as the first storm of the season chose not to hold back.
Trees were uprooted, fences knocked down and power cut to over seven thousand customers across the region.
Ergon Energy Network reported having more than 40 wires down and almost all of their crews working overnight to restore power.
Storm damage from debris saw the Gore Highway/Toowoomba Athol Road west of Westbrook closed to traffic until the debris could be cleared.
Hundreds of properties on the western side of Westbrook lost power during the storm and it took many hours to progressively restore power on Sunday night, with some properties without power until Monday morning.
As well as Westbrook, hundreds of properties at Hodgson Vale, Top Camp, Mount Rascal, Preston and Ramsay also lost power, which was restored more quickly than in other areas.
Outage affects Wyreema
The hottest day of the season thus far, Thursday, 23 October was made even worse for parts of Wyreema affected by a widespread power outage.
An Ergon Energy Network spokesperson said, from 4.30pm onwards, 6,152 customers were affected by the outage which spread from Wyreema out past Pittsworth, and all the way to Millmerran and Cecil Plains.
The spokesperson said the outage was caused by network protection activating.
Power was progressively restored to all customers by 6.15pm.
The Ergon spokesperson said crews patrolled the section of network and could not find an obvious cause.
