Wildcats netball highlights
As the end of the competition season draws near, the games are becoming more intense, lucky for our young Wildcat Cubs who have enjoyed a very social and fun season.
These girls made people laugh on the weekend, whilst taking a team photo, they asked if it was going to be put in the paper along with the comment, “we’re gonna be famous”. The simple pleasures in life! The Bobcats played an impressive game, dominating Club G right across the court. Sienna and Ruby were on fire in the attacking circle – movement, passing, shooting. Then Isla joined the circle continuing the trend and the scoreboard ticking over. Felicity showed great control progressing the ball up court and into the circle. Chelsea’s ability to thread the needle into the shooters was incredible. Georgia’s front positioning was critical and the intercepts she took as keeper were impressive. Emma starred as GD – her growing understanding of the position, awareness and ability to anticipate is beyond her years. Well done Bobcats – 33-6 winners! With three original players away Panthers struggled to find themselves. The game was always going to be hard against Downlands who dominated play last time we met. A huge thank you to Jasmine, Keira and Mikealee for making our 7. Jasmine had a strong defensive game, was able to hold her attacking player in the goals. Mikealee played well on the wings and fed the ball well down court, Keira had a great few quarters in GA upsetting the rhythm of the Downlands defence. The normal team spirit displayed before the game simply wasn’t there this week and it resonated onto the court, passes were wayward and as the game progressed the game had a lot more errors and the scoreline showed. Hope that we can get the fun and spirit back into the game before next week. The Cheetahs and the Lions squared off for the second time this season. The game began evenly then the Lions took things up a notch with impressive speed of ball movement. The Lions took control in the second quarter, while the Cheetahs pulled the margin back in the third. Our girls fought stoically, refusing to give in, striving to the final hooter. Unfortunately they finished on the down side of the ledger to the tune of 11 points. Incredibly proud of you Cheetahs!
