Work begins on Greenmount - Clifton pipeline
Work has begun in Greenmount to connect the new water treatment plant and existing reservoirs with the communities of Cambooya, Nobby and Clifton.
The Four Communities Water Supply Project involves the design and construction of a new water treatment plant in Greenmount and new treated water pipelines from the existing Haldon Street reservoir to supply water to Cambooya, Greenmount, Nobby and Clifton.
The pipeline is making up the first stage of the now indefinitely postponed Toowoomba to Warwick pipeline, shelved after a blowout in delivery costs.
The project is being partially funded by the State Government.
“The Queensland Government is proud to be providing $15 million over four years to support Toowoomba Regional Council to deliver this important water supply project,” Minister for Local Government and Water, Ann Leahy said.
Cr Rebecca Vonhoff thanked the State Government, which will provide $15 million over four years for the project.
“This project will provide those towns with safe and secure drinking water via the Toowoomba Bulk Water Supply Scheme,” she said.
The second stage of the Four Communities Water Supply Project will connect Greenmount to Nobby with the third stage, Nobby to Clifton, expected to be completed in 2027.
